Government

The city of St. George, Utah is governed by a five person City Council and Mayor who are elected by the general citizenry. In addition, St. George employs a City Manager and an Assistant City Manager whose duties include the supervision of the staff and the implementation of policy as directed by the City Council and the Mayor. The City Manager and the Assistant City Manager are employees of the City and are hired by the Mayor and the City Council.

The Mayor of St. George, Utah is elected for a term of four years. The City Council members are also elected for a term of four years. The Council members' terms are staggered to provide for experienced and potentially inexperienced council members to be serving at the same time. The City Manager and the Assistant City Manager are each employees of the City and are hired by the Mayor and the City Council.

The mission of the governing body of St. George is to provide quality services to the citizens and business owners of St. George. St. George and the surrounding area is a busy place. There are always sports events, lectures, plays, concerts, art shows, expos, and other public events that attract many people to the St. George and Zion National Park area.
