Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness

Pine Valley Mountain is located in the beautiful wilderness, the Dixie National Forest (Utah). It offers over a hundred miles of opportune trails and other exciting recreation for all ages. However, its most important asset is by far the scenery, but the love of camping still attracts so many people.

Hidden in Utah's Dixie National Forest, the Pine Valley wilderness is very scenic. It provides varied recreation spots and activities for all age groups, including over 150 miles of valley and alpine trails, and outstanding campgrounds.

The area is very peaceful, and the smell of fir permeates even the stuffiest nose. Pine, spruce, Douglas/subalpine firs and aspen litter the area. Large meadows flow in the wind with dandelions, clovers, yarrow, snowberries and fleabane, attracting herds of deer that use them as their pastures.

The mountain is a fascinating oasis, surrounded on all sides by desert sands, isolated from the surrounding mountain range. Interestingly enough, being isolated has served it well – chipmunks, marmots and squirrels dance across it, as well the odd grouse.

Temperatures are perfect for camping in the summer – warm in the day and cooling off rapidly at night. Winters are cold, snow covered and dry. The summer sees thunderstorms roll in around July, and these do not generally stop until late September, early October.

There are a few recreational activities to entertain even the most discerning tastes. Hiking is exceedingly popular, given the lengthy and sometimes challenging trails. Horseback riding and mountain biking have also taken hold, drawing in tourists from varied countries.
