The mild, sunny climate of St. George is particularly suited for this outdoor event. Artwork is displayed in booths designed individually by each artist. The many categories of art accepted include watercolor, oils, pottery, sculpture, photography, woodwork, and other creations. The show offers cash awards for Best of Show, Best 2D and 3D and ribbons for all categories. In addition, an artist’s work is selected each year to grace the following year's poster. This Featured Artist receives a complementary entry into the festival.

St. George Art Festival is an outdoor event held in the springtime, when temperatures are still mild and comfortable. Watercolor and oil painters, sculptors, photographers, wood-workers, and other artists display their creations in their own individually customizable booth. Artists are selected by a panel of experts from twelve of the most western U.S. states. Selection is competitive as the number of applicants grows each year.

In addition to the spectacular visual works on display, music also plays an integral part to the Art Festival's milieu. Almost every genre is represented, including bluegrass, western, barbershop quartet, and wandering minstrels. Elegant dancers dazzle spectators with their grace and agility, while children enjoy face-painting, games, and hands-on projects. Don't forget the world-class cuisine that's available—including ethnic fare such as Native American, Greek, and Polynesian.

The St. George Art Festival is held along historic Main Street, downtown.
