If you are a fly fisherman than Southern Utah is your utopia. Set against some of the most jaw dropping settings in the country, such as exquisite red rock formations, deep gorges that make up the canyonlands and vast deserts, Southern Utah also has some of the best fly fishing around!
Set amidst beautiful red rock canyons, there is not a more heavenly place for a fisherman to be. There are many fantastic fly fishing sites around Southern Utah.
The arid air in Antimony Creek is a location with lucid, cold water which tumbles down from glacier filled peaks and is filled with trout. Boulder Mountain's eastern and western sides offer fisherman a great variety of 80 some lakes, reservoirs and small streams with a large assortment of fish. Fremont River's fish population was nearly wiped out in the early 90's. Since then, the destination has been restocked and is one of the best places in Utah to fish for brown trout. Lake Powell is a family destination spot in the Utah summertime but is also a mecca for fly fisherman as well. Utah has only just begun its upward decent as one of the country's best fly fishing states. There are so many more places for anglers to explore such as Strawberry River, Huntington Creek and Seven-Mile Creek.
Fisherman must remember to come prepared with essentials such as a change of clothes, water and food. The weather in the canyons can be fickle and having a warm change of clothes as well as one for cooler weather is ideal.
