Gunlock State Park

Gunlock State Park in Utah has some exceptional recreation potential. This picturesque reddish rock realm, lies just north of St. George, offering over two hundred and forty acres of fun. In fact, visitors find true satisfaction in gathering around its huge and calming reservoir, engaging in water sports of all kinds.

Water sports are not the only recreation found at Gunlock State Park, Utah, a big area that is known for its exciting activities. Whether it's boating or fishing, camping or otherwise, the park has a large following who take advantage of its year round hospitality and charm.

The park has a large reservoir and forest, which serves its purpose to entertain and enamor its guests. Fisherman take the chance of heading out onto the reservoir to catch catfish and bass (year round). Campers line the shores, swimming at the waters edge and hiking its many trails.

The boating facilities are Spartan at best. It has one launch and a few privies. However, that is where the imagination has to take over as the park is virtually untouched by civilized amenities. The local bath is the lake. Toilets are typical hole in the ground variety, and though special places are available for disabled people, it is still in its infancy.

There are no fees for entering the park, as with other major parks, but campers do have to pay a nominal fee and can be charged for any damages incurred. Forest rangers expect everyone to be respectful and use simple common sense.
