St. George Airport
St. George Municipal airport nestled in the southwest corner of Utah, supporting one of the fastest growing regions in America. Connecting flights from Salt Lake City and Los Angeles run daily; cargo carriers, chartered flights, and sightseeing trips also take advantage of the airport's convenient locale, just minutes from downtown.
Established in 1940, St. George Airport accommodates three airlines and provides general aviation services, such as aircraft maintenance, fueling, and flight instruction. Parking is available in areas designated for 1 hour, 5 day, and 15 day increments. Within St. George, there are numerous car rental agencies, hotels, restaurants, and storefronts.
The airport has reached a developmental impasse. Because of commercial and residential growth in the surrounding area, the airport has reached its maximum potential for expansion. Discussion began in the 1990's for redevelopment and in 2000 plans were drawn up for its implementation. With the help of a 17.2 million dollar grant delivered by the FAA, the dollar St. George Airport relocation project will be completed 2011. Costs are expected to range between 170 and 190 million dollars.
To reach the airport, take Interstate 15 to exit 6 (Bluff Street). Airport is located on S. Airport Drive. For more information about St. George Municipal Airport, call (435) 634-5822.
