Hook Canyon, Zion National Park

Hook Canyon is a small canyon found near the North Face of Cathedral that receives relatively few visitors. The entrance requires a long rappel and some down climbing, and a 200 foot long rope is recommended, for both this rappel and the several others that are found throughout the canyon.

This route does provide an alternative exit route from the top of Cathedral for those who wish to do something other than simply rappel back down.

Although there is a lot of loose rock, this is a good route if you want something that requires a little more of an adventurous spirit. A bolt kit may also be necessary for some of the rappels.
